Unit Lead in our team orchestrates the work of multiple product teams responsible for the domain. As a Unit Lead, you’ll align and empower the teams delivering high-performance, scalable systems for your domain. You’ll co-own the engineering roadmap with Product, guide architecture for high-load services in production, and raise the bar on reliability across one of our most critical areas — inDrive Ride-Hailing for passengers. You’ll lead and mentor Engineering Managers, drive cross-team initiatives, and collaborate across domains in a dynamic, distributed environment.
Own the delivery and outcomes of a specific product area across 3 product teams
Partner with Product on creating the roadmap with Engineering Managers
Coordinate delivery across multiple teams, ensuring predictable execution and alignment on priorities
Ensure teams follow iterative/agile practices
Monitor and improve delivery health using data and metrics
Provide architecture and design guidance across teams
Drive cross team technical initiatives
Oversee incident management and postmortems
Guide teams in managing technical debt
Directly manage Engineering Managers within the unit; coach EMs in people leadership, delivery management, and technical decision making
Collaborate with Director of Engineering, other Unit Heads, Engineering Managers and Agile Coaches on cross unit initiatives
Regular status reporting Identify and address systemic problems
Facilitate and support retrospectives and improvement initiatives at unit level
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Proven experience leading multiple cross functional teams (ideally 30 engineers, 3 years)
Strong experience with agile/iterative product development (preferably in a product company)
Experience of hiring, growing, and retaining engineering leaders and senior engineers
Strong technical background (solid background in backend or mobile product development, ability to read and understand code (preferably Go, iOS/Android) and discuss trade offs with engineers)
Experience with system design, understanding of microservice architectures for high load systems, experience designing and overseeing scalable, reliable, and observable systems in production
Familiarity with incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortems
Strong product sense: ability to understand user problems, business constraints (ride hailing, mobility, maps/geo, or marketplace platforms experience would be an advantage)
Background in A/B testing, experimentation platforms would be an advantage
Experience using delivery and product metrics Agile mindset, communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast changing environment with evolving requirements
Experience in international or distributed teams, working across time zones
