Junior Monitoring Engineer (DutyShift)

The DutyShift team is part of the SRE department and belongs to the infrastructure department. The team is focused on handling incidents and managing incoming requests to the infrastructure.

In their work, the team uses Jira, Slack, PagerDuty and a monitoring stack consisting of Grafana, Kibana, Thanos+Prometheus, Alertmanager.

The team works 24/7 in shifts, the duty engineer work schedule is 24h of work, 3 days of rest.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to alerts in accordance with SLA;
  • Participation in incident handling and assistance in problem solving;
  • Performing tasks related to changing the infrastructure, cloud infrastructure configuration and monitoring system configuration;
  • Writing runbooks and instructions for knowledge sharing;
  • Using and writing scripts to automate manual work;

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience with Unix-like systems such as Linux or macOS and experience with the Linux console;
  • Ability to work with Grafana and Prometheus metrics for data visualization and monitoring;
  • Ability to use Kibana to analyze application logs;
  • Skills in working with the Git version control system for source code management;
  • Python/Go programming skills to automate administration tasks;

Optional:

  • Experience with orchestration container – Kubernetes for deploying and managing containerized applications;
  • Knowledge of the Keycloak access control system for security and authentication;
  • Ability to use Vault to store and manage secrets;
  • Knowledge of English at a level sufficient to read technical documentation and communicate with English-speaking colleagues;
  • Experience with observability systems – ELK / EKF / Loki, Jaeger/OpenTracing;
  • Any incident management tool (PagerDuty, Opsgenie, etc.);
  • Experience with AWS Console or any other clouds;
