Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day general ledger operations, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close across multiple entities.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and related close activities under US GAAP.
  • Maintain strong process controls, documentation, and compliance with accounting policies, SOX requirements, and audit expectations.
  • Standardize and improve GL processes, identify gaps, and support automation and system enhancements (primarily in NetSuite).
  • Review variance analyses, challenge unusual movements, and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
  • Coordinate closely with AP, FP&A, Payroll, Tax, Treasury, and regional finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for GL issues and ensure timely resolution of operational bottlenecks.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the GL team, including workload planning, performance reviews, and cross-training.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and capability building within the Shared Services GL team.
  • Prepare and support audit deliverables and ensure timely closure of open items.
  • Assist the Accounting Director with reporting, close metrics, new initiatives, and scaling Shared Services operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Chartered Accountant.
  • 7–9 years of progressive experience in accounting or shared services, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and end-to-end month-end close processes.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite (preferred) or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel and Tableau skills.
  • Ability to critically review work, identify inaccuracies, and challenge incomplete explanations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure during fast close cycles.

    Preferred:

  • Experience in a global shared services environment.
  • Exposure to multi-entity, multi-currency operations.
  • Experience supporting US-based or international audit cycles.
  • Big 4 experience of 2-3 years
